SUMMARY:Lean Coffee
DESCRIPTION:Join the Startup Colorado Community for our quarterly Lean Coffee online series (register here)—an interactive networking discussion that’s tailored to entrepreneurs from all industries. Each quarter\, we are featuring a co-host from the either the founder or funder world. These founders or funders will kick things off by explaining their niche\, how they got to where they are today\, and answering your questions in real time. \nThis month\, we’ll be joined by Morgan Moutrie\, founder of Colorado Smell Goods Morgan is a Leadville-based entrepreneur and new mom who traded her professional camera for candle pours in 2022. Since launching Colorado Smell Goods\, she’s navigated the “messy” learning curve of scaling a product brand through wholesale\, digital marketing\, and a lot of trial and error. \nComing from a photography background\, Morgan realized early on that while a service-based founder is the business\, a product needs a soul of its own to connect with people when the maker isn’t in the room. By narrowing her focus and becoming a “master of one” first\, she’s built an elevated brand identity that stands out. Morgan is a firm believer that your mission and core values aren’t just fluff—they are the North Star that helps you make every strategic decision with confidence. \nThe format of Lean Coffee is simple: \n\n20-minute workshop from our co-host\n10 minutes for Q/A so you can get feedback\nBreakout Room with other community members to connect and share ideas\nYou suggest the topics\, and we’ll cover a couple of impromptu business subjects (AI\, Digital Marketing\, you name it!)\n\nWhether you’re seeking advice\, or just eager to connect with fellow entrepreneurs across the state\, Lean Coffee is the perfect place to engage\, learn\, and grow. Join us to meet like-minded founders and tackle the topics that matter most to your business. \nPlease register through Zoom: linked here.

SUMMARY:Rural Women in Entrepreneurship
DESCRIPTION:Each month\, the Rural Women in Entrepreneurship group inside the Startup Colorado Community comes together for a virtual hour of connection. March’s co-host will be Lauren Czaplicki\, founder of Fungal Solutions- Wildfire Ltd! \nThis hour is casual\, fun\, and easy to drop into. We talk about what we’re currently working on\, share our stories\, and pool our resources to help each other get to that ‘next step’ on the long entrepreneurial road ahead. \nThe format is simple: \n\n15–20 minute talk from our co-host\nRounds of 1:1 connections with other community members\nCome and meet fellow women entrepreneurs from all over the state to discuss current topics and trends in business\n\nFree and open to all Colorado women working in business and business support. \nAbout Lauren: \nLauren Czaplicki is an entrepreneur and founder of Fungal Solutions – Wildfire Ltd.\, a wildfire mitigation and land resilience company serving Southwest Colorado. She launched her business to challenge the status quo of “cut and burn” fire mitigation by developing water-wise\, living fire barrier systems that convert woody debris into soil\, upcycling flammable woodchips into fire barriers\, erosion control features\, and passive irrigation systems that strengthen landscapes over time. \nLauren works primarily with 5–35 acre landowners and HOAs\, coordinating strategic thinning and implementing fungal fuels treatments that reduce risk while enhancing property value. Her work blends science\, contracting\, and ecological design and reflects her passion for building innovative\, mission-driven businesses in traditionally male-dominated industries. Her background is in Environmental Engineering and this is her second company. \nPlease register through Zoom: linked here\, or through the ‘register’ button at the top of the page.

SUMMARY:Rural Women in Entrepreneurship
DESCRIPTION:Each month\, the Rural Women in Entrepreneurship group inside the Startup Colorado Community comes together for a virtual hour of connection. January’s meetup will be co-hosted by Cory Warden\, founder of Legacy Lab App. \nEach month\, the Rural Women in Entrepreneurship group inside the Startup Colorado Community gathers to have a virtual networking conversation. This hour is casual\, fun\, and easy to drop into. We talk about what we’re currently working on\, share our stories\, and pool our resources to help each other get to that ‘next step’ on the long entrepreneurial road ahead. \nThe format is simple:  \n\n15–20 minute talk from our co-host\nRounds of 1:1 connections with other community members\nCome and meet fellow women entrepreneurs from all over the state to discuss current topics and trends in business\n\nAbout our co-host: \nCory Warden is the founder of Legacy Lab App\, the Estate Organizer. Like many people\, Cory didn’t fully understand how critical it is to have a clear legacy plan in place until her mom passed away and she suddenly found herself responsible for settling the estate. That experience opened her eyes to how overwhelming and painful the process can be without essential information organized and accessible. \nToday\, Cory’s mission is to educate the two-thirds of adults who don’t have a will and encourage them not to wait for a crisis to get prepared. She created the Legacy Lab App to make that preparation easier: a secure\, user-friendly tool that helps individuals organize important documents\, decisions\, and wishes in one place. When the time comes\, the right people can access what they need so loved ones can act with clarity\, confidence\, and peace of mind. \nFree and open to all Colorado women working in business and business support. \nPlease register through Zoom: linked here\, or through the ‘register’ button at the top of the page.

SUMMARY:January Lean Coffee
DESCRIPTION:Join the Startup Colorado Community for our quarterly Lean Coffee online series (register here)—an interactive networking discussion that’s tailored to entrepreneurs from all industries. Each quarter\, we are featuring a co-host from the funding world. These representatives will kick things off by explaining how specific funding programs work and answering your questions in real time. \nThis month we’ll be joined by Juan Carlos Rosales de la Garza from CEDS Finance. Juan is a Senior Investment Officer at CEDS Finance\, a nonprofit CDFI and SBA-certified lender in the Denver metro area\, where he leads small-business lending and credit analysis focused on underserved and low- to moderate-income entrepreneurs. He holds a Master’s degree in Finance from Harvard University and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Texas\, with prior experience in mergers and acquisitions\, financial analysis\, and risk assessment within international companies. He applies this global and analytical background to mission-driven lending\, combining responsible capital deployment with financial education and technical assistance to support business sustainability\, job creation\, and equitable access to capital. \nA note from Juan: Debt and equity topics can feel overwhelming\, so helping founders know what to ask makes a big difference. The most common questions I usually hear fall around readiness and what funders/investors actually look for. In very simple terms\, one thing we can help clarify is that equity investors are usually looking for long-term growth and future profits\, and they don’t expect repayment right away. Debt financing is different—lenders focus more on current cash flow and the ability to start making payments right away. \nNot sure how Juan can help you and your business\, here are some questions to consider or ask Juan on the call!: \n\nHow do I know if my business is ready for a loan or an investor?\nWhat do lenders look at when deciding whether to approve a loan?\nWhat do investors look for before putting money into a business?\nWhat’s the real difference between equity investment and debt financing?\nWhen does it make more sense to take on debt instead of giving up ownership?\nWhat numbers should I have a handle on before talking to a lender or investor?\n\n  \nThe format of Lean Coffee is simple: \n\n20-minute workshop from our co-host about funding strategy and resources\n10 minutes for Q/A so you can get feedback\nBreakout Room with other community members to connect and share ideas\nYou suggest the topics\, and we’ll cover a couple of impromptu business subjects (AI\, Digital Marketing\, you name it!)\n\nWhether you’re looking for funding\, seeking advice\, or just eager to connect with fellow entrepreneurs across the state\, Lean Coffee is the perfect place to engage\, learn\, and grow. Join us to meet like-minded founders and tackle the topics that matter most to your business. \nPlease register through Zoom: linked here. \n
